Steve Tesich

Steve Tesich

Steve Tesich was an American Oscar-winning (1980) screenwriter, playwright and novelist.

Tesich was born on September 29th, 1942 as Stojan Tešić in Uzice, Yugoslavia (now Republic of Serbia) and emigrated to the USA with his family when he was 14 years old. They settled in East Chicago, Indiana, and Tesich later graduated from Indiana University in 1965, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.. He did graduate work at Columbia University where he began to write plays. Breaking Away (1979) won Tesich an Oscar and a Golden Globe nomination. When his film career ended, Tesich continued to write plays.

After achieving success writing for both stage and screen he died on July 1st, 1996 following a heart attack at the age of 53 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Steven Enich

Mr. Steven Enich (04/21/1923 – 10/10/2004) was a prominent Serbian-American lawyer, practicing primarily in Wisconsin. An amateur photographer as well as philanthropist, especially to the Serbian Orthodox cultural heritage, from approximately 1979 to 1994, he was given often unprecedented access to Serbian Orthodox cultural monuments in the former Yugoslavia. In the course of several trips there, he amassed a collection of almost 5,000 slides, the majority of which he took himself. Often, he would share these slides with interested groups, particularly among the Serbian Orthodox communities in the United States.

An Exhibit of Byzantine and Modern Orthodox Icons

Residents of Heaven is a book of Icons by Father Stamatis Skliris which were prepared for "An Exhibit of Byzantine and Modern Orthodox Icons" held at the "David Allan Hubbard Library, Fuller Theological Seminary" in Pasadena, California, June 10 - July 5, 2010.

The iconographer, V. Rev. Stamatis Skliris, attended the opening of the exhibit with His Grace, Bishop Maxim who gave the Introduction. The mounting of the display was done by Jasminka Gabrie and the staff of the Fuller Library. The opening event was organized by Dr. William Dyrness, Director of the Visual Faith Institute, Brehm Center for Worship, Theology and the Arts, Fuller Seminary.
